The Airedale Chemical Peracetic Acid Disinfectant 24kg is a versatile, organic compound that holds multiple applications across industrial cleaning and sanitisation. Applied in agricultural/poultry premises and dairy farms as an in-situ sanitiser. Commonly used to treat animal diseases in by controlling pathogenic micro-organisms. Considered a viable alternative in disinfection to Sodium Hypochlorite as it does not react with proteins to produce toxic or carcinogenic compounds and leaves no residue providing a more environmentally friendly alternative. Widely used in cleaning in-place applications in manufacturing or processing environments (CIP – cleaning the interior surfaces of pipes, vessels, process equipment, filters and associated fittings, without disassembly). Applied within dairy farming to disinfectant pathogens present livestock hoofs and cows teats. Suitable for use in cooling tower water disinfection preventing bio film formation and controls legionella bacteria.
Peracetic acid (also known as peroxyacetic acid or PAA) is a colourless liquid with a boiling point of 25°C.
Holding the formula CH3CO3H, it is created by a reaction between hydrogen peroxide and acetic acid; the compound has a similar pungent-smelling odour to its slightly stronger cousin, acetic acid. Peracetic acid is a popular biocidal disinfectant with uses across many industries.
